Maven is genuine infrastructure that ships real value — 99% of Java projects depend on it, reproducible builds are certified, CI/CD integration solid. Not trendy enough to be slop. The science score is low because it's engineering-as-solved-problem, not research. The XML config syntax is demonstrably bad (Gradle, Bazel, build.gradle.kts all exist partly because of this), but that's a design choice from 2004, not a current lie. This is what signal looks like when it's old enough to be invisible.
